Dylan Barnard, Tavis Barr, and I ventured into this unique mountain range in China's Henan Province to investigate myths of a climber's paradise: 200-meter sandstone cliffs topped by steep mountains ATOP the cliffs made of completely different stone! The trip began with some area recon and culminated in out team's first ascent of a new route, "Weibo (微薄) Paparazzi" (5.9+, 3 pitches). Area information will be up soon on our Mountain Info page!

In the Shadow of the Great Wall: Climbing in Baihe Valley
A mere 2 hours from the bustling metropolis from Beijing is
a winding river gorge, called Baihe (“White River”). The tiver gorge has so
many sport crags that stretch for miles down the gorge. There are a few trad
lines, too. Even so, there are many, many cliffbands that have yet to be
touched by climbers!

Our First Project!: "Yunnan Dispatches"
Matt and I are happy to share with you our first project, "Yunnan Dispatches." Our project involved our following (and assisting) our friend Dane Schellenberg in his project to develop new climbing areas in Yunnan province, China. Dane has been hard at work outfitting these crags so they are suitable for stellar cragging and even further route development. For more information on some of these projects, I have also created information pages on www.summitpost.org. You can find them here:
